THE PARTY CAPITAL OF THE WORLD
Thailand is fast becoming a destination of choice as a location for a second home.
Phuket is among the world’s finest beach destinations, with fine white sands, nodding palm trees, glittering seas, and lively towns,
Phuket City, on Phuket Island, is the capital of Thailand’s Phuket Province. In the Old Town, Thalang Road is lined with colorful 19th-century shophouses and Sino-Portuguese buildings.
Phuket’s economy has rested on two pillars: rubber tree plantations making Thailand the biggest producer of rubber in the world and tourism.
Since the 1980s, the sandy beaches on the west coast of the island have been developed as tourist destinations, with Patong, Karon, and Kata being the most popular. Since the 2004 tsunami, all damaged buildings and attractions have been restored. Phuket is being intensely developed, with many new hotels, apartments, and houses under construction. Phuket has 60,000 hotel rooms for its 9.1 million annual visitors.
It has something for any taste and budget, with hundreds of hotels to choose from, a wide choice of dining and partying options. Aside from the fantastic attractions of Thailand’s biggest island, you can take an exhilarating speedboat trip to the many nearby tropical paradises, including the famous Phi Phi Islands, or enjoy a serene cruise around the mystical Phang Nga Bay. Phuket is blessed with more than 30 amazing beaches to choose from.
